ITA selects Engle Lane as Site for Mock Audition Clinic

For actors wondering if they have what it takes to go pro, this is the chance to find out.

Community Players of Streator/Engle Lane Theatre has been selected as the next site for the Illinois Theatre Association’s Mock Audition Clinic. These clinics give actors insider information about what to expect at the ITA’s Statewide Non-Equity Professional Auditions in February, 2017 at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and how to best prepare for professional auditions in general.

The ITA’s Statewide Auditions (commonly referred to in the industry as “the ITA’s”) provide more than 300 actors an opportunity to audition in front of a theatre full of casting representatives from throughout the state and beyond. Actors of all ages and types will be hand selected from a pool of about 500 applicants.

ITA Executive Director Aimee-Lynn Newlan explains that the clinics give actors insight into how applications are chosen, what to expect on the day of auditions, and how to make the most of their 90 seconds on stage.” Newlan encourages all actors, even those not attending the ITA’s to take part in this clinic. “It’s a valuable learning opportunity for all!”

This year’s Mock Audition Clinic will also include a discussion on headshot/resume submissions. A select number of actors will be chosen to perform their audition pieces in front of the audience, and be given feedback by the facilitators.

Newlan explains that the event is a great opportunity for local actors. “It’s free for all members of the ITA and Community Players of Streator, and only $10 for everyone else. I encourage anyone serious about acting to join us on this afternoon.”

The ITA Mock Audition Clinic at Engle Lane Theatre (1012 Columbus Rd., Streator) will be held from 1p-4p on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

Participants must register in advance for the Mock Audition Clinic by the ITA’s website at www.illinoistheatre.org and clicking on the Auditions tab, or by signing up at the following link.
